Teenager’s Cyber Suicide - Could Something Have Been Done?

November 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

Abraham Biggs, a 19 year old college student took his own life Wednesday by swallowing an overdose of pills in full view of a live audience via his webcam via Justin.tv, a site that allows users to broadcast live videos from their webcams.  Nobody took him seriously in the beginning as he had threatened suicide on the site before.  The boy took his overdose and lay on his father’s bed in front of the webcam, and as his life slowly ebbed away, the live audience cracked jokes about whether he was serious or whether he had taken a strong enough dosage.  Ultimately somebody called the moderator of the site who alerted police.

It was too late.

Could something have been done to prevent this?

Some people feel that this boy had cried wolf once too often.
